A Celebration of life will be held for beloved local artist Jay Scott Murphy who passed away March 14, 2024. He was raised in Redding but lived in Red Bluff for many years.  Jay, his art and his kind and humble manner is deeply missed by his friends in the art community.

Jay and his art will be honored by the North Valley Art League hosting an exhibit of his art and a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 6, 2024, 5-8 pm, 48 Quartz Hill Road, Redding.

Jay's art was a constant thread that ran through his entire adult life. His abstract art painting and sculptures reflected his love of nature.  Along with his imagination, he wove together the forces of nature and different cultures into his works.  He endeavored to place a life force into his art pieces and capture the energy of his subjects.

Jay's art pieces are treasured possessions of local art lovers. NVAL will exhibit Jay's most recent sculptures and paintings, September 4-28, 2024, which will be available for purchase along with prints of his artwork.

On behalf of the local art community, the Tehama County Arts Council wishes to extend our deepest sympathy to Jay's beloved partner of 22 years, Elizabeth Brown and to his daughter Lauren Murphy.
