Bill Hooton, hasn't missed many of the local Red Bluff Cowboy Poetry events in the past 31 years. He is a retired veterinarian and also considers himself a part-time cowboy, so has a lot experiences to share his well-crafted and witty western verses. Hooten has performed at the State Theatre with Dave Stamey and at many other Cowboy Poet events.
Saddle Up for Cowboy Poetry Night! Monday, April 14th, 2025 at 6 PM Red Bluff Round-Up Museum 670 Antelope Blvd Suite 2, Red Bluff, CA
Join us for an unforgettable evening steeped in tradition, storytelling, and the spirit of the West! Our annual Cowboy Poetry Night brings the past to life through verse, preserving the voices and experiences of those who lived it.
This year, we're proud to feature the talented Bill Hooton. His poetry captures the grit, heart, and humor of cowboy life. Through his words—and those of other cowboy poets—you’ll step into the boots of the working cowboy, experiencing the world through their eyes.
Why is cowboy poetry important? It keeps a rich oral tradition alive, offering a window into the real lives behind the legend. These stories help us remember not just the cowboys but also the culture they built, which was full of hard work, resilience, and deep connection to the land.
So pull on your boots and be part of a night that honors the cowboy way—not the Hollywood version, but the real one, in all its dusty, heartfelt glory.
