One of our featured photographers in Capturing the Light is Dana Hinkle, whose deep love of nature has shaped her photography for decades.
Dana shares:
“For the past 35 years I have enjoyed many hours getting to know and photographing birds of Lake McCumber. A few strokes of the paddle and I am in one of my happiest places. My other hanging out place is Lassen Volcanic National Park. It was the beauty and wonders of Lassen that inspired me, in 1968, to use the commission I received from renting rowboats on Butte Lake to purchase my first 35mm camera. The ranger's wife rented the boats. I have left many footprints on Lassen trails. I did several hikes this summer, including spending my 82nd birthday hiking and kayaking Lassen.”
Dana’s story beautifully reflects how passion, place, and a lifelong connection to the outdoors can inspire an artist’s vision. Her work in Capturing the Light brings us closer to the landscapes and wildlife she loves so dearly.
