We are delighted to include Harvey Spector in this year’s Capturing the Light photography show. Harvey brings decades of experience and a refined artistic perspective to his work.
After graduating from the Art Center College of Design, Harvey worked as a commercial studio and architectural photographer, later spending over a decade as a freelance photographer for the Getty Research Institute. In 1999, he relocated from Los Angeles to Redding, where his creative vision has continued to evolve.
While Harvey describes himself as happy and one who takes much pleasure in life, his photographs often carry deeper layers of meaning. Beyond their dramatic lighting and sense of mystery, his images may evoke feelings of loss and abandonment. Yet, within those same objects and scenes, Harvey finds visual beauty—and through this process, a sense of healing emerges, repairing both himself and, perhaps, the world around him.
